Illuminae is an unconventional novel. The narrative is composed of various pieces of documentation pulled together in the aftermath of an attack on an isolated mining community. Despite the lack of real time face-to-face interaction between the two main characters, the authors manage to give the characters depth will telling an entertaining story.

Because of the epistolary style of Illuminae, it was a quick read even though it was nearly 600 pages long. Based on the subtitle, The Illuminae Files_01, I’m assuming there is another volume on the way. I’m looking forward to it.
