Molly Bigelow is a seventh grade girl who is recruited into a secret society of teenagers who protect and police the undead – they don’t like being called zombies – in New York City.

Dead City is the first book in a series of Middle Grade horror novels about Molly’s adventures. The book is well-written, and the horror aspects of the story are more gross than out-and-out horrifying. I rated this book 4 stars on Goodreads. It was a solid, likeable book, but lacked that extra spark I needed in order to give it the extra star. I liked it enough that I’d like to read the sequels, but I have a lot of other books in my TBR pile that I need to read first.
