Oingo Boingo not only had one of the most unusual names of any 80’s band, it’s sound was also among the most unique of the time period. The band became popular in Los Angeles in the mid-70s, then reached their peak in the mid-80s.

Lead singer Danny Elfman with his bright red hair and pale skin often seemed creepy in the bands music videos, most notoriously in the video for the song Little Girls, which I’m not linking to because it includes material some may find offensive.

Here’s the video for Dead Man’s Party, which the band performed in the movie Back to School:

And their biggest hit, Weird Science, the title song for the movie of the same name:

Here’s a song I’d forgotten all about until searching YouTube for this article, Nothing Bad Ever Happens To Me:

And yet another one I didn’t realize was by Oingo Boingo until writing this, Private Life:

Starting in 1985 with Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, Danny Elfman provided musical scores for nearly all of director Tim Burton’s films, including the Michael Keaton version of Batman, and Beetlejuice, among others. He also wrote the theme song for The Simpsons, and is married to Bridget Fonda(!!!).

Feel free to comment below about your impressions of this movie or other 1980s nostalgia.
