Subtitled How A Monster Became An Icon, this book is a collection of essays put together in an anthology to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

The book is divided into three sections:

  1. The literary roots and themes of Shelley’s novel.
  2. Frankenstein through the years as an element of pop culture.
  3. The scientific and ethical questions Frankenstein raises.

I gave Frankenstein three stars on Goodreads. It was a good read, but not quite up to what I’d hoped for. The interview with Mel Brooks about the movie Young Frankenstein was definitely the high point for me.
