I read and reviewed a short story collection by Richard Matheson a few weeks ago. Hell House is a 1971 Matheson novel that was adapted to film under the title The Legend Of Hell House.

The novel has a classic set up: a dying rich man has purchased the world’s most notorious haunted house and pays a team of paranormal experts to determine if there is life after death.

Hell House is certainly a good horror story, but for some reason I didn’t find it that enjoyable. I gave it three stars on Goodreads.
