Subtitled: The Kid, The Hawk, Rock, Vladi, Pedro, Le Grand Orange, Youppi!, The Crazy Business of Baseball, & the Ill-fated but Unforgettable Montreal Expos

The Montreal Expos came into being in 1969, two years before I became a baseball fan. For their first twenty years or so of their existence, the Expos played in the National League’s eastern division with the team I grew up rooting for, the St. Louis Cardinals. The early sections of Up, Up, & Away deal with the early years of my baseball fandom and with players that I came to know through Cardinals baseball and television broadcasts, and my hobby of collecting baseball cards.

As the 1980s became the 1990s, I stopped following baseball as closely as I did when I was younger, so I’d only observed what happened to the Expos from a distance. In the early 2000s, the Expos were targeted for contraction before eventually moving to Washington and becoming the Nationals.

I gave Up, Up, & Away five stars – the first section brought back a lot of fond memories, and the latter sections filled in a lot of information that I’d either overlooked or forgotten.
