House of Frankenstein (1944) is the sixth in Universal’s 8-movie Frankenstein series. There are quite a few cast changes this time around – Boris Karloff appears as a mad scientist instead of as the monster, Lon Chaney Jr. returns as Larry Talbot/The Wolf Man, John Carradine plays Dracula, and Glenn Strange plays the monster for the first time.
I would give House of Frankenstein two stars. The series suffers from a lack of continuity and inconsistent casting. The plot is convoluted, and the payoff of having so many horror headliners on the same bill doesn’t live up to expectations.
