Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) is the last in Universal’s 8-movie Frankenstein series. This film may have marked the birth of the horror-comedy genre. I saw it several times during my childhood; it worked as a horror movie when I was younger, with the comedy elements becoming more prominent when I got older. The cast features Bela Lugosi as Dracula, Lon Chaney Jr. as Larry Talbot/The Wolf Man, Glenn Strange as the monster, and of course, Bud Abbott and Lou Costello.
I would give Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein four stars. Even though it played the monsters for comedy, I preferred it to the previous two films in the series.
