Subtitled: A (Sort Of) Compassionate Guide to Why Your Writing is Being Rejected

I came across this book when searching my libraries online catalog with the keyword “third person POV.” The title was intriguing, so I put it on my TBR list. It turned out to be a very pleasant surprise – I’d say it’s the best writing craft book I’ve read in the last year or two.

Jessica Page Morrell is a developmental editor who see lots of manuscripts. In Thanks, But This Isn’t For Us, she breaks down many of the areas where authors fall short. In each section, she provides a list of “deal breakers,” along with ways to avoid them and references to other craft books that deal with the topic.

I gave this book five stars on Goodreads. I ended up renewing it so I can have more time to take notes from it. I recommend it to any writer who may be struggling with rejection.
