Aru Shah And The End Of Time is the first book published by Rick Riordan’s imprint, Rick Riordan Presents. Roshani Chokshi is an established best-selling author of young adult books – this is her first published middle grade novel. Riordan’s imprint intends to focus on books about the mythologies of other cultures – this one is about Hindu mythology.

The main thing I liked about this book were how it provided exposure to a brand new universe of myths. As with Riordan’s novels, there is a lot of humor and action, but to me it all comes off as too derivative of Riordan’s style – I’ve read that Riordan edited the book himself (not sure if that’s true or just gossip), so maybe that explains it.

I gave Aru Shah And The End Of Time four stars on Goodreads. There is a lot to like about it, but I felt a little deceived by the ending of the book’s quest, and the plot resolution and setup for the second book of the series were awkwardly done.
